Life has been unbelievably GREAT the last few weeks. Reasons mainly consists of my boy and food. Lots and lots of food makes Vanessa very happy. The first round of mid-terms are finally over and FINALLY partying last weekend was oozing with awesomeness. We have wayyyy too much fun together, thus few partying nights are sufficient.
Some of the delectable food that I've had this month are the best that I've tried thus far here, so I'm satisfied.
**Phnom Penh (1 hour away, but totally worth it )
- Golden Chicken(spicy)
-Pad Thai(no taugeh)
-cambodian springrolls(mmmmm!)
**Yangtze(Chinatown)
-Dim Sum
-Cantonese Crab
**Imperial Palace (downtown)
-B.C Oyster steamed with black bean (OMG the oyster is so big and omg it's heavenly)
**Pho Bo Gla LA
- The PHO!!! (Viet beef noodle soup)
**The mall
Spicy salmon sushi (although it's like food court, no restaurant has been able to beat their spicy salmon sushi!)
Good food makes me FAT! *DAMNIT*
So... besides food, movies of the month are... Elizabeth and Saw 4. Although the boyfriend fell asleep during Elizabeth and laughed at the wrong parts, Elizabeth is a great movie. Cate Blanchett was phenomenal in the movie. Saw 4.. like all sequels it's almost time for the Saw series to end. They've almost milked it for all its worth. It was still good, but there's parts I don't get. If anyone watches it.. pls explain to me how Jigsaw ends up back in the room at the end of the movie. There's going to be a Saw 5 and hopefully it ends there. They need to make a new movie already. This month has a lot of good movies coming up... my top 2 MUST SEES for November are Lions for Lambs and American Gangster-*definite MUST WATCH*
Till next timee!!

My legendary weekend (Thanksgiving)
So my legendary weekend begins with a car accident on a Friday evening. No one was hurt, but someone had to pay a lot of money. The price of impatience. But that didn't damper the night cos Eric Prydz was in town and we were going to see him do his thing. The music was phenomenal, the energy was crazy, the vibe was awesome. In all, I don't think I've had more fun in my life. With my 2 favourite canadians with me (pheap and chrissy), it only made it better.
Saturday came fairly quickly, from having too much fun and we got ready to leave Ottawa and go back to kingston (home for all 3 of us). Most of saturday was spent resting and driving, then the 1st turkey dinner of the weekend came. Thanth cooked an awesome dinner, which tasted great! Pheap met Thanth for the first time (Thanth is the equivalent of my dad... he's great that way. ) They hit it off really well (which i still find hard to believe)and my babe even took his money at poker. Afterwhich, we all hit the club (another first in a looooong time for Thanth)and drained every last bit of energy we had. Going to bed after was the highlight of the day really.
Then came Sunday, my stress day. I was going to meet the parents. Everything went better than i thought.. and i think they like me? The pre-dinner (noodles and spring rolls).....OMG delectable. The dinner, the 2nd turkey dinner was great, the gravy, the ham, and the turkey... all great! Then we went out to play pool...i watched and gave support to the bf and is bro. I think I should learn to play pool properly... it seems stupid that i suck so badly. Then we rented Aladdin (Princess Jasmine :))watched it with his bro at home and then we all went to bed.
My bf's parents are funny, they remind me of home, just cos they're SO ASIAN. The vibe in the house (from khmer music)and the interactions between everyone, it feels like a real home and that was a great feeling.
By Monday, i think both of us were recharged and ready to go back to ottawa and cook our last turkey dinner of the weekend. So it was a slight rush back, just cos his parents decided to take a roadtrip and come up to ottawa too. By 7pm, the dinner was ready and everyone came and had a great time. Me and pheap are still the reigning scrabble champions *yay* and we just fun with good conversation, good food, great people.
So that's my weekend, and it was a well deserved one for all of us. I can't wait to have more weekends like that, minus the car accident. I can't wait till Christmas!!! I'm so excited!
Till next time... I'll post pics from the weekend up!

Paint my days a rainbow
So it's been a while since my last update.Everything's quite the same. School's the same old, with a larger workload. Friends are keeping up quite well, weather's still not too bad, but it's been raining a fair bit.
So the newest addition to my not-so-exciting life, is my boy. So some quick facts.
Name:Sopheap Hok (so-p-up)
Age:23
Place of birth : Thailand, but he's cambodian.
Raised in: Kingston, Ontario, Canada.
So, it feels strange to be in a relationship all over again. At the same time, I don't quite remember ever being this happy... EVER.I wish I could describe him with words but I can't. He's something else,so special, I think I really lucked out this time. One thing's for sure, things haven't been the same ever since I met him. I realise you get so caught up with life, sometimes you forget the little things. Right now, there is no one I'd rather share the little things with.
This whirlwind of emotions scare me more than anything, but something is different this time. I think it's cos it really feels like I'm with a MAN, not a boy.I don't know what i did to deserve someone like him, but I'll be eternally grateful.
So, i know how to make springrolls from scratch.. and i even know how to make the dipping sauce. My boyfriend rocks! Cos he feeds me with home cooked asian food! *yum!

Late nights
So I lay here, it's a quarter to 3am. I have to be up to differenciate an equation in 5 hours. But my body is not ready to sleep. So, I've finally decided to update my blog. The last 3 weeks have been crazy busy... meeting up with everyone, moving all my crap to a different location, partying, shopping, meeting new people, taking the bus to Jezs's apartment, walking downtown and watching random people, being extremely addicted to tv-links (thanks Nicole!!) and recently, studying.
It's great to be back the Big O is great, more to see and do. Definetely more culture and that fortunately comes with the wider variety of food choices. I love the people of Lebanon.. thanks for creating Shawarmas. I can't wait to explore the city and see everything before winter comes. I'm about halfway there cos I keep taking the wrong bus and end up sitting in the bus while it goes the longest way possible. Res life is kinda fun I guess. Lots of new people to see and meet.. very very bad food.. but it's fun overall. Being in international res is awesome.. u see people from all over the globe.. literally.
University life is fun.. I'm not too worried about exercise cos apparently the campus is super huge and to walk from one bulding to another takes a good ten minutes..so yeah.. I think it's all good. The workload is increasing exponentially but it's a good thing.. keeps me busy. Ottawa is good for concerts so I'll be looking out for a good one to attend in the near future (hopefully).
For some reason I think I've mellowed.. I haven't partied as much as I think I should? Oh well.. I think I'm getting lazy. Oh and I'm on the 15th floor of my res, which is top floor. Man the view is superrr amazing. Nice view of the city cos Im right downtown!
Ok I think I'm actually sleepy now. But I need to share my joke of the year... Moo.. thanks for being online. She cld be the face of China eh. I'm still sticking to the fact Cleo is choosing her as a joke. I won't mention names cos yeah.. I'm no Angel.. but I'm no devil either. HAHAHA(this went on for like ten mins when i saw it)Ok.. now that I've had my bowl of Bitchy, I'm ready to retreat to slumberland.
Peace out.
Pictures will be uploaded soon. My camera is kinda F***ed.

Why do all good things come to an end...
So I'm pretty much at the 2 week mark. I have 2 weeks to pack my bags, do all the things I haven't done, eat all the things I haven't eaten and meet all the people I haven't met. 2 weeks seems too short.
The time back home was a blast.. more than I can imagine. I thought coming back and then leaving wld be easy... who knew it was gonna feel like the 1st time. It's the few people that will keep me coming back at least once a year. At the same time, I realised that my social circle has depleted. I didn't quite realise that time fades friendships... it's like we're strangers all over again... So I can imagine.. in 4 years the friends that I'll still have by me will probably be like 5. But it's alright.. cos sometimes you might just only need one... But the truth is people do change... and change is sometimes difficult to accept.
I need to start packing.. like really soon. i NEED to come up with my To-do list! I've been idle at home for days now. I need to get my stuff done damnit. Packing is going to suck cos I'm bad at it and it just reminds me of leaving.
My only consolation are my friends back in Kingston. They're planning outings, clubbing, dinner BBQs and preparing a room to crash in. Obviously they do not empatize with me at all for leaving home... they're more pissed at the fact I was gone all summer.I love my friends... every last one of them.. here or there. They really paint my world with colours, laughter and love. They are simply my world, my pride and joy.
Speaking of friends...
I miss you, more than I can imagine. Thanks for the memories. But because all good things come to an end....

Bittersweet
So as of today, I'm no longer employed. That means that 2 months have flown. 2 damn months out of the 3 months that I'm back has flown! I have one month left to savour every moment spent with the people I love more than anything in the world. Dear God.. I'll be away for 11 months thereafter....Wow..
At the same time, I'm yearning to see the people I've learnt to love on the other side of the world. To re-live the crazy, drunk, sober, spastic times. To breathe in the nice fresh air and manja my cat.. and freeze my ass off. It's only going to be 27 days till I leave. Oh man.. I think only Jezs knows what i'm feeling.. it's like extreme excitement and at the same time... extreme sadness.
Highlights
** Drama at the Workplace
** Retro clubbing at MOS (bloody awesome)
** Cafe Del Mar- Thanks to those who put up with my drunken nonsense. Won't happen again :)
** Daily supper at Mas Ayu with Vicki dearest.
** Attica Too
** Drinking at Gorges
** Being entertained by Vicki B.
I'm free for a month.. so Zoo, Night Safari, Sentosa, Clubs, East Coast Beach, Airport, Coffee Shops and all things Singaporean... here I come! Hurray.
And as for bittersweet.. someone tell me why it seems like it's more bitter than sweet.
